Cameras aren't that great. 10 seconds latency which means it starts recording too late

I own 5 cam and motion detection is just awful. The setting for a grey out zones is just doesn't work and peeks whatever is at the camera sight. Wont spot a dog shittin on your lawn only spots when it walks away.

Yikes. Are you sure it's not a function of good wifi connectivity?

I have the old XT outdoor cameras and was just going to buy the new $35 Sync Module 2 for the local storage.
Ended up buying the 2 camera kit with amazon show for $115.
For an extra $80 i get 2 more cameras and a show 5. Good deal.

Assuming it works with third party USB sticks then it may be a fine deal
I tested it with Sandisk, Samsung and Kingston USB flash drives. All work. The tiny Blink 64GB drive is only $15. A flash drive is not where you want to penny pinch on security.

Will the newer modules w/ local storage be compatible with the older cameras as far as saving the recordings locally? I thought I had read somewhere that only the newer generation cameras will be compatible in that sense...?

EDIT: I found this - https://support.blinkforhome.com/...torage-faq

Which Blink cameras work with Local Storage?

Only Blink Outdoor, Indoor (gen 2), and Mini cameras are compatible with Local Storage. The Blink Mini must be added to a Sync Module 2 system to use Local Storage.

The XT2, XT, and Indoor (gen 1) include cloud storage of their own and their clips are not saved in the Clip Backup.
So it seems that the older XT and XT2s won't actually record to local storage...

Happens with my Ring as well. They both happen to owned by Amazon, so coincidence?? That said, I'm planning on purchasing a mesh system on prime day to see if it's a wifi issue & hopefully improve the latency. My modem/router is already fairly close to the camera, so we'll see.
Experiencing this with ring would either be a defective unit or a wifi issue. Ring camera should continuously keep a buffer of a couple of seconds before the motion event. That buffer before the motion event is part of the final video.

I found support is not good. Setup is not "EASY". Storage requires subscription after 30 days, not cheap. There's better systems out there, do your research before buying.
It's $3. What do you consider cheap?

Interesting - anyone know if Blink cameras have that same buffer approach? haven't had issues w/ my old XT2 and need to buy more for new home.

Also, anyone know a good way to attach these securely but not permanently to brick (without drilling)? I want to play around w/ different mounting angles to reduce unwanted motion alerts. Most removable adhesive pads want non-porous surfaces and construction adhesive probably too permanent.

That is for 1 device, I have 3. Cameras are intermittent on recording. Blink does not have good support. There are systems out there, comparable in price that offer more.

I may be wrong but I don't see them being any cheaper on Prime Day. I think this is part of the pre-Prime Day sale. They may actually go up in price.

I beta tested these and am replacing all of my Arlo Pro cameras with these. The battery life is fantastic, you get local storage with the USB storage add-on and the app seems quicker to connect to cameras than all others I've used.

Also, 5 cameras with $10 echo show 5 comes up at $234.99 for me. None of these deals would allow the extra 20% off for trading in another security system.

I don't have an issue with latency of as long as 10 seconds, more like 2-3 seconds if I want to connect to the live camera. As far as latency with motion detection, I've not noticed it. It seems to always record people and critters as they enter the field of view of the camera until they exit it.

I bought the $250 4 wireless/1wired Blink deal at Costco. Is the 5 wireless cameras and the echo show 5 a better deal for $235?
