LOL, sorry to burst your bubble:

from Klipsch forum and tech support:

No power off switch, no stand by mode and the sub draw 16w of electricity. No thanks.

There must be some serious inventory liquidation going on since these have been on sale most of the year via major retailers and the prices are getting lower and lower.

Those that have this speaker, can I lay the satellite speakers on their side instead of standing up? Due to space restrictions, these speakers will be in front of my monitors and need to be on their sides. Also, can you remove the stand?

Thats an amazing deal. I've had 2.1s since 2000. Just this winter I "upgraded" to different speakers and honestly they sounded nearly the same except more harsh, so I had to EQ that out. I guess the sub is better, but yeah Klipsch 2.1s are so solid.

Where do you see the 16w standby/on power draw? I went through the manual but didn't see that anywhere (could have missed it).

The tang bands are drop in, plug and play?
Yes, just open the satellite (might have nylon padding inside the satellite). Remove the screws securing the stock driver and unplug the audio cable. Then secure the Tang Band back with the stock screws and plug in the cables and you get vastly improved vocals that don't get drowned by the sub-woofer. They sounded so good my brother-in-law wanted to buy them off me. I told him no, hahaha! No way I'm selling these babies.

If you're modifier savvy enough you can even mod the satellites to use 3.5mm connections so you can easily unplug the satellites audio cable instead of having the default hard cable. That's what I did.

I used these along with some speaker wires, wire stripper, and a soldering iron to make my own custom connection to the satellites:
MJS-CM Stereo 3.5mm Female Jack Chassis Mount Audio Connector
NYS 231 REAN 3.5mm Nickel Stereo Mini Plug
NYS226BG 2-Pole Mono 3.5mm Plug (Black)

For reference, if your sub-woofer ever blows out in the future you could replace it with the "Tang Band W6-1139SI 6-1/2" Subwoofer" as it just drops in but it's not worth replacing the stock subwoofer on a brand new Klipsch 2.1 Promedia speakers because it's not cost efficient. And also the box is not ported for the Tang Band subwoofer for the low end. For $89 currently, it's not a good bang for your buck to upgrade the subwoofer.

I bought these at Costco last year for $170, they are the best computer quality sounding computer speakers I have ever owned. Buy two at this price!

You can remove the stands and lay them on their sides, but it will sound different.

I am still irritated I missed my local Walmart clearing these out for $40

If I'd seen that I would have bought 4 of them

Mine draws 17w on idle per my Kasa smart switch. I ended up setting auto-off at 7pm (that's when I'm done with my room every night) in case I forget to switch it off. Can't imagine paying $20 annually in electricity bills just to have this plugged in
Quote from coachclass :
Measuring with kill-a-watt, my Klipsch drew 9.6W. I returned it due to the annoying humming from the sub.

Is the idle power consumption for the most recent, 2018 version of the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speakers?

You can also wall mount them as per the user guide. Not sure which mounts you need for that though
