If you want to avoid a sub, you want to spend more on floorstanding speakers instead of bookshelves.

I have some huge, 40+ pound floorstanding speakers in my main room, they still greatly benefit from a sub, especially for movie content.

If I could do it all over again, I'd buy better bookshelf speakers and two subs. This is what I learned from my garage system as the bookshelf speakers with 5.25 inch woofers generally blend well with a 12 inch sub in-room.

So my suggestion: for the price of the floorstanding speakers anyone is looking at, spend it on bookshelf speakers, speaker stands, and a sub instead.

Had these before and if I didn't go the wireless route, I'd buy a few pairs right now. I chose the infinity 162's because the center channel RC263 had rave reviews. I JUST hooked it up and love it so far as I didn't previously have the space to install it as is in my home because it's a beast

Find some wooden stools. It looks better and is more sturdier than any stands.

Something similar-make sure the seating area is flat and large enough to accommodate the footprint of the speaker. Or just buy some MDF board and affix that over the stool seating area.

For the best sound you should try to get the center of the tweeter horn about the same height as your ears when you are listening. It's true for nearly all speakers but it says it on page 3 of the 530 manual.

The speaker is 18 3/8" tall so I would guess the tweeter center is about 13" (I do not have one here). The stools you link to are 22" tall so you can figure from that depending on your seating and height. It does not have to be exact...but I would not recommend a 6-8" stand unless you listen sitting on the floor or the stands tilt the speakers up to point at you.

Infact, most people who owned the S15s disagreed with cheapaudioman's views. If we read the comments, none had issues with the Polks! They liked them a lot just like me. Same is the case with the reviews they are getting online everywhere. May be its just personal likes!!
Only a couple of people disagreed with his review in his comments.
It's not just cheapaudioman and me that think this speaker is overhyped.

Amir at audiosciencereview also doesn't like the speaker. Read his review.

Out of the 25 headphones and speakers I have tried, I disliked the Polk S15's the most.

I'm very tolerant of headphones/speakers when it comes to this hobby and don't even consider myself an audiophile.

You don't have to have crazy detail, perfect balance in terms of sound signature, instrument separation, pinpoint imaging and extra wide soundstage with perfect timbre to impress me.

But the Polk S15 sounded worst than your average consumer speaker to me, I honestly thought mine were broken.

I remember reading a post on reddit of a person who just upgraded from a Logitech z5500 and completely disappointed how this "audiophile" speaker, the S15's sounded worse than his z5500's.

To each his own but I'm not the only one.Peace
