Also chance of the stripped bolt are high indeed.

If anyone looking at this deal - if your circumstances allow for it at all - change your own oil and filter. Takes 20 minutes every 6 months (probably less than time spent driving to/waiting/and driving away from a shop) and you know it's done right. You may have to spend like $40 up front for a pan, right wrench, etc but it's worth it and you get to reuse them.

If you go to Walmart today and buy 5 quarts of oil and a filter it will run $30 or so plus tax. Many times Mobil or Pennzoil are running rebates for their 5 quart jugs so this is how WandaVision can say it will be less than $25. This also only applies if you have a vehicle that takes 5 quarts or less. I have a truck that takes 7-8 quarts, our SUV takes 6 quarts, and our son's car takes 4-5 quarts. Luckily the truck and SUV take the same 0W-20. If I don't have any 0W-20 laying around and I need to change the oil on my truck or SUV it will cost close to $60 out of pocket to go buy two 5 quart jugs and a filter. I will have some of the second jug left for the next oil change and I might get a $20 rebate in 6-8 weeks. I also need to plan on it taking 1-2 hours. The actual draining oil, replacing filter, and refilling the oil does not take more than 30 minutes. But I have to get out a jack, tarp, light, lots of paper towels, drain pan, funnel, and wrench set. Make sure the vehicle will not fall on me. Then I have to dump old oil into something and clean up the drain pan and funnel. It seems to take longer to get everything out, clean it up, and put it back than the actual oil change.
You will definitely save a few bucks doing your own oil change. It will cost you a couple hours of your time--which it might cost you anyway if you try to take it somewhere on a Saturday afternoon. You will also have satisfaction it was done right and probably build up courage to do some other maintenance things yourself. However, changing your own oil is certainly not for everyone. Some days it seems like a lot of hassle to only save $20-40. If you don't want to change your own oil, and have a Valvoline place nearby, saving $25 with this deal is nothing to sneeze at!

* just know that if you don't use this coupon or don't need it now then you have a groupon waiting and YOU HAVE TO WAIT 24 HOURS after purchase of the groupon to use it there. Valvoline's rules...
Many here already have the equipment and the space to do oil changes, others do not. Any apartment dwellers here?
Many here have time to do their own oil changes, many do not. Any single parents here that cannot leave their young kids running around unsupervised or you just work a lot?
Some people do not even know how to change the oil on their car. My sister 🤣
I use to do my own oil changes but it was saving me, at most, $20 and I incur the risks for stripping the oil pan drain plug, damaging the oil pan gasket (rare), and dropping the car (you know that feeling when you lower the car and silently think, don't slip). I take my cars to the dealership and bring the Mobile 1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic and matching Mobile 1 oil filter. I use this oil for the longevity, as even before the pandemic I was only driving 10,000 miles a year, but in the past 18 months it is down to 4,000 miles. They only charge labor and I let them run their checks. Always inspect your engine and cabin air filters before going to the dealership and tell them to not even check them.
If you have the time, bring your oil and filter to your local dealership that will change it for just labor.
If you do not mind the risk and have the time, do it yourself.
If you are in a rush and need a quick oil change, then these types of deals are your answer.

for clean up I actually use newspaper to do quick wipe downs, and then stuff the funnel and drain pan with newspaper and put them in a trash bag and then in a tote.
also keep the large cardboard boxes. perfect for sliding on and for catching oil drips.
a fumoto valve and tube is great, but that's getting into luxury territory.
If you want an, at best, a high school graduate usually just in from a long night of partying working on your car to save a few bucks, go for it. Now changing my own oil. $30 in material and under 15 minutes, and No, I only do my own vehicles.
