I turn off the camera until I need to use it to see where my dogs are in the back yard. activating it a couple of times a day to live view the battery lasted about 5 months.

I'm in a similar situation. Previous owner messed up the wiring now I'm stuck hiring an electrician (which I don't want to do for a doorbell) or using a cheapo wireless.

I'd love a doorbell camera, but I read about the batteries not staying charged for long. Which model are you using that lasts 2-3 months?

My battery powered Ring 2 doorbell lasts about a month with traffic of three people and lots of deliveries. If you just get a second battery it's a breeze. Just swap battery out and put the other battery on a charger so you have no down time. Takes 10 seconds to swap the battery. Ring 2 manufacturer refurb is one of the best buys I've ever made at $23 on Amazon Warehouse. Love that there's an app to get notifications on windows because I'm on a computer so much during the day. One click and I can see who's at the door while I'm doing work. So much better and faster than looking at my phone.

I ordered this but received 3-pack Blink xt2 instead. I thought these Blinks were discontinued. Any thoughts on whether Blinks are comparable to this ring outdoor? I was planning on getting into ring ecosystem with their protect plans.
