WEN [wenproducts.com] is now selling a WEN DF400i Super Quiet 4000-Watt Dual Fuel RV-Ready Portable Inverter Generator with Fuel Shut-Off for $799.99. This is a new product of theirs which explains the lower price point. I would expect this to increase in price as sales go up.

Product
  • Dual fuel design runs on both gasoline (4000 surge watts, 3200 rated watts) and propane (3200 surge watts, 2900 rated watts)
  • Auto Fuel Selection Technology automatically switches from propane to gasoline for longer run times
  • EPA III and CARB compliant 212cc engine provides extremely quiet operation (58 dBA at quarter load, 22 feet)
  • Fuel shutoff maximizes the generator's lifespan by using up the remaining fuel in the carburetor before shutting down
  • Produces clean power to prevent damage to sensitive electronics such as smart phones, tablets and laptops
  • Includes two three-prong 120V receptacles, one RV-ready AC 120V NEMA TT-30R receptacle, one 12V DC receptacle, one 5V USB port, a digital load and fuel display
California Compliant

Warranty
2 year warranty

This is normal price and has been in stock for awhile now. It's still a decent price if you GOTTA have it now, but I'd personally wait for a sale, as they run them often.

A few days ago this was listed at $705. This was not a sale price, then I went back to order it and the price jumped to $800

I actually bought it at the $705 price and tried to post it here but kept having errors. Figured I would post this for those looking for an in-stock inverter generator that can be used for an RV as summer months approach.

How about it? Did you tried propane? How about noise level?

Normal price and 'in stock' should be considered a good deal for us in Texas.

It's a solid deal at $705 Wen doesn't charge tax to any state, and free shipping. I ended up getting the Westinghouse igen4500df for $800 on ebay. I think there was 2 left as of last night.

I use 120v as backup. Not the end of the world to not use the electric stove & dryer. It would be nice to power the central a/c, but you aren't going to to that with the OP's 3200 running watt WEN unit.

Again it would be nice, but I don't run high drain 240v stuff when the power is out,

PS the peak claims are getting a little out of hand. Why not throw in 2 more capacitors on the unit and claim 5000 watts(and then in the small print have 3200 watts). Moral of the story be looking at running watts.

Sales tax IS charged for California but what's an extra 9.75% when you're having fun?
You're lucky to find the igen4500df dual price in stock let alone 20% off!

Got mine the other day when i noticed it on the wen site for 705, free ship and florida tax free (but maybe they do that all the time). Best deal i could find on a dual fuel inverter. Gonna use this on propane for short outages to keep a couple things running since they're more fuel efficient and bit less noise. Bought a 12000 watt dual normal gen probably loud as heck also for the florida SHTF outage. Got a buried 120lb propane the house runs off of (stove, pool & house heat) and a few 20 and 40 gallon singles, so except for air conditioning, elec usage is pretty minimal besides fridges and pool pump....learned my lessons from the last place even though power lines were under ground. Don't rely on electric (too bad cali) and fill up before the shtf season on propane and gas.

How loud are generators these days? I don't own one, and I haven't heard one since the 1990s. Is there a comparison that could give me an idea of what I should expect?

I know this is dual fuel, but I don't see how that makes it worth DOUBLE what the gas-only 4000W inverter generator costs.

Hell, dual-fuel conversion kits are under $150.
