Pay with your Chase Southwest Credit Card to get the 50x points per $
Giftcards qualify. Buy a $100 gift card, get 5000 points (worth ~$50, maybe more). I'm in.
Good catch. But any risk of the transaction date falling outside the window (Friday)?

Think I'll just buy a flight... can always cancel and spend over the year

I guess this is a safe purchase.

Hey, question: I managed to get the companion pass in Feb 2020, meaning with covid I have gotten to use it literally 0 times so far and it supposedly expires at the end of the year. Anyone have any tips to call customer service and get a covid extension?

Looked at flights yesterday, same flights today cost $35 more. Figured that would be the case but still annoying. Will probably just buy a gift card
flight prices are constantly changing day to day based on demand. If you see it at $79 today, no guarantee it'll be $79 later today or even tomorrow.

The only kind of gift card you can buy on southwest.com is a southwest gift card.

FYI / PSA:

Southwest Rapid Rewards points are currently valued at 1.5 cents per "The Points Guy" website, or 1.6 cents each per Nerd Wallet.

Use Southwest's 'low fare calendar' and switch between pricing in points and pricing in dollars to find the best value. Sometimes you can get an equivalent value of 1.7 cents or more.
On international flights(mexico) I am seeing 1 point = 2.2 cents Applause

No, you won't. You decided not to fly last year, and half of this year so far. What a waste.

I will be on my 15th vacation next week with my 2021 CP. I lost count last year.

I suggest you start booking tickets.

From DD:
For $100 you can get a $100 gift card and 5,000 points worth $77.50, so $177.50 total value or a gain of $77.50.

For $105 you can get 8,510 points worth $131.90 total value, or a gain of $26.90.

If that answers your question. The better deal is to buy Gc, not points

I want to confirm I'm doing this right... no special links or anything, right? Just purchase a $100 GC with my SW CC?

Person was saying they didn't see anything about extra points. Everytime they do a promotion the extra points will show on chase app but will take a while to post to RR account. Two different places…

Note that it will take about 2 months for the bonus point to post to your account versus normal spending. The last time that verbiage was used it was 60 days exactly for my bonus to post..
If I closed the cc before the point post to my account, do you think I still getting the bonus point? Planning to closed my cc before annual fee due.

Probably a dumb question, but here goes...

So I bought a $100 gift card with my Rapid Rewards card. Received the email with the card number and security code, and checked the balance.

Now is there a way to add this as a payment method on my Southwest account, so it's saved and I don't delete/forget about the email with the card information? Seeing where a credit or debit card payment option can be added, but not a gift card.

Thanks.
