Yes, the Blink battery powered camera might be some solution to meet the lite needs for the first time user
At the present, I can set the clip length to 60 seconds and retrigger time to 10 seconds. That records anything I could possibly want. I just don't have the need to see anything that would warrant an uninterrupted clip of something 3-5-10+ minutes in length.
And FWIW no subscription, no cost.

Did you have any clarity issues? Just got mine and set it up but the edges seem really blurry. Completely clear in the middle of the picture.
Viewing clips is a bit slower to load now but I'll gladly take that for saving $100/yr.
