I have the model HLL2320D and have been happy with it so far. This was a lifesaver for all the COVID remote school printouts for kids. The original toner became too light after 8-9 months of use, and I bought a 2-pack refill from Amazon for $18.
Brother has been making these HL series mono laser printers for several years now (I have one) and they're very reliable. Also, replacement toner cartridges are inexpensive and readily available.
well i tried to purchase, but couldn't pass the damn captcha. what is wrong with walmart....spent 10 minutes clicking crosswalks and traffic lights. screw it.
I'm tempted but the last few Brother printers I've purchased from SD (including J460dw, J470dw, and similar models) have stopped accepting non-generic ink. I'm basically over buying any printer that only accepts their ink brand. Anyone have experience with this Brother? Will it take generic toner and not get a firmware update later to stop accepting them?

I've stop going to walmart site because of that. Plus I feel dirty when I shop at Walmart, online and B&M.
I bought my girlfriend a brother printer that uses ink, she has to print a ton of stuff for work. The stuff she prints are just text mainly so black and white and it has been great, she gets generic ink packs off Amazon. Would a laser be better in the long run for her?
In case useful for anyone, it was fairly easy to set up AirPrint (wireless printing from iOS) on my Brother laser printer—not this model—using a Raspberry Pi and following this guide: https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-airprint/

My kids print on-and-off. Ink tend to dry up on HP-Lexmark-Epson-whatever brand. Printer's cheap, not so with decent ink. Generic ink seems to dry faster than branded. Wasted half cartridges' reserve just try to clean the head. Laser toner are plastic treated with heat and won't dry nor smear.

I know. I don't what's wrong with Walmart. For the past few months, you need to do the captcha to even browse the site.

I saw somewhere that this would happen if you install their drivers. It suggested that you just let Windows manage the printer with the drivers included in the OS.

EDIT: Just snagged one! Looks like it's getting in and out of stock.
I recommended my mom

This printer and when I set it up it was super easy and printed really fast. Looks like it's now available only at end of the month.
Anyway if this printer is in fact good then it is cheaper than what I recommended to mom FWIW
