Some people believe it can lead to overheating the battery, which can shorten the battery's life as it's trying to both charge and discharge from usage at the same time. This gets debated back and forth, and the arguments can get quite, er... heated. However, I think most of us don't have the luxury of not using our phones while they're charging, so it's likely a moot point for most folks...
Why is charging and using your phone at the same time a bad thing?
Charge and discharge at the same time? Say what? That's a physical impossibility. Any current being used to run the phone isn't being used the charge the battery, thus resulting in slower charging which is typically better for the battery. Batteries of all types often suffer shorter life from rapid charge or discharge.

I never turn my phone off to charge.

And here's another option to get both wall and car.

It's not. Most non Chinese brands are designed to dissipate the thermal load generated during charging while operating its most current hungry applications (gaming) at the same time and at 60C ambient.

In the specs.

It is, but SD is thirsty for sketchy Chinese electronics.
