Can this be used as a standalone camera with a SD card, without any sort of subscription service? I'd like to just place a cam inside a shed out of wifi range, and be able to grab the SD card when needed.

It does local on microSD and cloud storage. I like their cameras and I never pay subscription.

Just wanted to point out that you can only view images on the app. There is no web portal, unlike some other such cameras.
