I asked my wife to pick up the impact deal from another thread, also 50% off, as an anniversary gift. Instead, she stumbled across this combo kit at the store and it's even a better value.
I came here to see if it was posted, and all I find is a post from 13 months ago that I can't comment on, so here's a new post on the deal.

For the first time I was able to benefit from the Amazon Chrome Browser extension which directed me to the deal at AMZN when I was looking at Lowe's deal ..

It certainly seems to be on the ropes. There just isn't a place for Porter Cable.
The company used to be a popular name. Then, Stanley Black and Decker got ahold of it and ran it into the ground.
They aren't bad tools at all. I own some that I bought as refurbs. I paid like $110 for a drill, an impact driver, a reciprocating saw, 3 batteries, and 2 chargers about 8 years ago. Everything still works well.
The issue is when these tools are full price they can't compete against the quality of Rigid, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Metabo, Metabo HPT, Makita or Bosch. They don't have near the ecosystem of Ryobi.
They are better than Black and Decker branded garbage, but they were in the undesired midrange people didn't buy. People tend to want dirt cheap (Black and Decker) or mid-high-tier (Dewalt). Then Ryobi went ape-shit releasing tools. Then Hart came out at Walmart. There is no longer a place for a mid-tier tool, with a limited ecosystem, not supported by a national retailer.

Hate to burst your theory but they are owned by Stanley Black & Decker - which also owns Dewalt and Craftsman
I also stated that Porter Cable is built better than Black and Decker.
I also stated that Porter Cable doesn't match the quality standard of Dewalt.
This is all true.
TTI makes Milwaukee and Hart. In your mind I guess that makes them the same quality.
