I find them almost identical in price, but Southwest:

-Doesn't make me hate flying
-Is generally on time
-Plays few games with fares
-Lets me check 2 bags so I'm not carrying on a ton
-Is quick to offer refunds and credits for mistakes or inconvenience

YMMV...
Friday, June 11. For one day and one day only, Southwest Airlines is offering its cobranded cardmembers a generous opportunity to easily earn 5,000 Rapid Rewards points. As part of its 50th-anniversary celebration, Southwest is allowing all Rapid Rewards credit cardholders to earn 50 points per dollar spent on Southwest purchases. However, this promotion will only last for one day from Friday, June 11 at 12:00am ET to 11:59pm ET

Maybe it's because of where I live, but I've never seen a Southwest flight that is a better deal than what you can find with American/United/Delta.

The only airline on that list of three that I would even consider as better is Delta. AA and United are trash. United has been awful since they gobbled up Continental (which was a great airline), and Doug Parker ruined AA and turned it into a legacy Spirit airlines.

If you're A-List or A-List Preferred your experience on SWA is very top notch.

Can you help me understand what/when the right sale is? I fly out of Minneapolis if it matters.
No. Slickdeals posts a few deals throughout the year. And you just have to pay attention to certain routes.

For instance I watch Denver to MCI a lot. So will check prices every time there is a sale.

Probably not a better deal until you fly with your family somewhere for a week and need to check 3 or 4 suitcases... Try the other three with the cost of those checked bags, if you don't have their credit card, and then tell me how Southwest isn't cheaper.

Maybe so, but that is the reality of downtown Seattle that seems to collect every freak from all demographics. Depending on one's experience, I would agree that it will probably not be boring... especially after the sun goes down. Then again, neither is the south side of Chicago, East St Louis, Baltimore, etc.

Once south of Eugene and in the Banana Belt of Oregon, life is much better. Those that live on the California/Oregon line often shop in Oregon for the no sales tax..... the parking lots are full of California plates.
I grew up in the Midwest, and before moving to Seattle, I spent time in 2 of the other cities you mention. There were a couple occasions I didn't feel safe.

To compare some of the roughest neighborhoods in the country to downtown Seattle is absurd.

The city has issues, like any other. I suspect people are leaving because they are getting priced out, not the reasons you mentioned (while I'm sure those reasons hold true for some).

With todays rental car rates, $2800 is worth it just for the rental car only!

Obviously, some people like it there... and Portland. If not a participant, most people do not feel safe with riots, pillaging and destruction of property while law enforcement is non-existent. If not the same as the other cities mentioned, just give it more time... it is coming.

Hope you're right! Then I could buy a house inside city limits for under 900k.

In reality though this is just a speculative narrative to keep dividing our urban and rural citizens.

Urban and rural citizens have been segregated since the beginning by the fact of space, that of course creates ideological differences. The congested narrative is to take from those working and sacrificing for the American dream to support the created entitled that sit on their azz to then riot, steal and pillage under the guise of racism, inequality, or whatever suits the excuse for being unproductive to take from those that are... unless of course, baby factories for welfare are to be considered a viable occupation.

Must be spot on if you can identify the non-mentioned cultures who are predominately productive and those who are not. Not so unusual for say, a Greek to show up with not much more than a frying pan and put his kids through college. Or the Jew that will sacrifice a lot to educate his kids, while knowing education is imperative to success. Etc.

Hold up. Because I recognize and call out the stereotypes, that means they've been validated? Umā€¦ I'm sure your buddies on stormfront or 4chan think that's true, but that's not how logic works.
