Is this from a forthcoming ad? Any other good sales from it?

I actually use the touch bar, and isn't that rumored to be going away?

Correct. The current rumor says the touch bar is not going to be on future laptops.

And the last rumor said we were supposed to get the revamped laptops during WWDC which obviously didn't happen. I'm hoping we get it soon, but at this rate I've waited long enough and I'll probably just bite the bullet and go for a laptop.

Are there any warranty advantages with Costco for this?

I don't think the extra money for the extra gpu core is worth it. Just get the 7 core gpu for $899. Save yourself some money. This is not a deal.

As a regular laptop I agree that Macbook air with 7 core GPU is sufficient. But 8 cores will definitely help in video editing and gaming. Also macbook pro has cooling fans which might be needed as and when it gets older. Display nits is 500 compared to macbook air which is at 400 nits.

Add the 50 off 500 to make it $1099. If you didn't get one, call and they'll get you one.

The Pro is always worth the money if you use the laptop a lot. The air is for light users and Pro is built for power users. I still use my 2014 MacBook Pro everyday and it is simply the best laptop I have ever owned. After about five years of flawless ownership, my wife, who had gone through two windows laptops ($1500 worth) came on board and has never looked back. I'm purchasing this to replace her machine since she needs more storage. I will give her laptop to my daughter. It is really nice to get so many years out of these machines, worth every penny. I will not give another penny to a Windows machine.
