All air conditioners dehumidify as they run. A dehumidifier is just an air conditioner that doesn't vent outdoors.

Reply to Ransom: Understood but an ac alone does not dehumidify as well as a dual unit with both features (or a stand alone dehumidifier). Setting it to dehumidify mode simply removes a higher volume of moisture from the air vs. just the ac. I have a remote cabin that requires dehumidification when I'm not there. My dual ac/dehumidifier is simply more effective than the ac unit I replaced (when I set it to dehumidify mode). Not disagreeing with you about ac units also having some dehumidifying benefits…just adding context.
