OP should mention the samsung discount program also includes first responders ("medical professionals," paramedics, police, firefighters), military (including veterans), and government workers (all levels, county to state to federal), so it really opens the door to a bigger class of folks eligible for this nice deal. Just gotta take a few minutes to get verified through that id thing. The discount was only $200 the other day for the 85", so an additional $400 to make it $600 off the already on sale price of $3999.99 is pretty slick. probably wont see it any cheaper until black friday.

2% cashback off TVs too through a certain site. not sure about the rate on others.
How do you get verified for government workers? I only see verification through id.me for nurse, first responder, military, teacher, student, alumni, medical provider.

Any feedback on this TV vs Sony 950.
From rtings, looks like this TV eeks out a little better on most criteria.

Don't know if any of it would be enough to visibly see a real-world difference, but...there you go.

I did the cancellation trick and it gave me extra $100 off. I used the reason "found cheaper elsewhere". I have also used this on flex alpha notebook in the past...so it is not one time per account.

I can only roll my eyes so much. OLED still has a pretty big advantage, and burn-in is pretty negligible at this point. Kind of funny you mention plasmas, as burn-in was also used as the boogeyman against them, too, when it was generally non issue. Posting from my 3 year old cell phone with an OLED screen.
I have an older LG oled and I am looking to buy this set as an upgrade. OLEDs do not get bright enough in HDR in my opinion.

I hate how Samsung doesn't support Dolby vision. It keeps me clear of their TVs.
Quality control keeps me clear of their TVs, every Samsung I have bought has died in under a year and a half, my last one didn't last a week, no more Samsung TVs OR appliances for me

After placing an order, just click cancel and provide one of the reason as "found it cheaper elsewhere", they will automatically offer $100 to keep the order.

You can find horror stories from every brand. I like LG for homekit and dolby vision. I just wish their tvs weren't so thin since mine is hooked up to a mantelmount. I'm worried it will get broken. I did consider sony oled since their tv is better built but they run on android.
