Shouldn't there be some 8.5' for around $180 in store deals soon? Sam's used to have them but so far nothing. I've been waiting since March for a decent plastic Kayak deal and about to run out of time to even use them…

OOS, but in my experience shorter kayaks of this style are slow in general, even for a casual recreational kayak. something like the 10' Lifetime Tahoma would be a better way to go. Even my kids 8 and 10 use a 10' Charger so they can better keep up when we go out on the lake.

came here to say the same. i think almost everyone will regret buying an 8' kayak. it will get you out on the water, but youll find out very quickly that you want something longer. especially for flat water.

Good only for a kid up to 70lbs. Poor paddling experience.

The great thing about a shorter kayak is putting it in your car with the seats down. A 8 or even 9 foot kayak fits in my chevy volt.

In Oregon anything longer than 10 feet requires a permit now. So I can see the appeal for something that is clearly less than 10 feet.

Sounds like the 250g drone law. Also sounds like the PRO (People's Republic of Oregon) are going full-on looney left. What's next? Permits required for people over 6'3" or 280 lbs? Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I run a marina and am looking for sit-on-top kayaks to rent out. I've viewed the cheaper kayaks and my main beef is the seating - it usually comes with straps or swivel or some gee-gaw. Basically, all of those options are breakable, which I don't want to have to deal with on rental kayaks.

The brand I'd love to get my hands on is the Jackson Kayak Riviera - very few moving parts or parts that can break. Of course my needs are completely different than the recreational user that will take care of their kayaks.
