FYI USB2 is like 10 times slower than USB3 and even more. I wouldn't take 1 even if they gave me for free
There may be a day when you wish you had one of these

can someone explain to my why this is a slickdeal? 64gb USB 2.0? Doesnt seem like something I would buy in 2021.
Perfect for OS installs (win, mac, linux) and linux live disk.

Believe it or not many windows platforms still have problems installing windows 7 and 8 via usb 3.

Why does this matter? Because it is still free to upgrade from windows 7 and 8 to windows 10. So if you have an old windows 7 license you can install windows 10 but you have to install 7 first.

Also if you are primarily using regular sized word processing docks and whatnot its still fast enough.

Plus many drives are "USB 3" but slow as dog sh*t.

All that said, show me the same thing with USB 3 speed at same price and I'll grab it too.

Can one of the thumb drive experts on here recommend one that I can run Tails on? It would be for frequent use. Thank you in advance!
The posted drive is for small files.
"Compatible with most PC and Mac laptop and desktop computers with USB 2.0 port. Compatible with USB 3.0 host devices at standard USB 2.0 speeds (3MB/s)"

Moving large files with a slow drive while working reduces productivity. If you have time to kill the sure get the cheap drive.

12.49 for a good 3.1 drive is worth it to me.
"Read speeds up to 300 MB/s with the latest USB 3.1 standard.
Safeguard your data with a 5-year limited warranty."

https://www.samsung.com/us/comput...f-64ab-am/

edit: Add data speed for the posted drive from the Target page.

How many years is it going to take to fill up 64GB over USB 2.0?

USB 2.0 is from April 2000.

This is 21 year old technology.

Thought they were cheaper on Amazon, but the three pack I saw for $13.20 were 16GB, so this seems ok.

Same, but 40MB...I was like "I could actually put those AVI files from MS Encarta on my hard drive and have room left over!"

From one of the reviews, this drive took 45 minutes to transfer a 10 gigs file. That would mean a write speed of about 3.8 MB/s.

Might be useful for music in your car which you'd copy once to this drive, but I'd stay away for using this to transfer files regularly.
I own a few of these. IIRC i got them on clearance with some other back to school stuff. yep, they are definitely slow. Perfect for something you won't actually add and remove files on very often, like a modded Classic SNES or PS Classic.

Agreed how is this FP? I think this is close to the going rate even at Walmart for a 2.0 drive. This wouldn't even be that slick at 3.0 honestly

edit: sorry not FP....it was in my For You section, my bad.
