I have this one. It replaced an older AC1900 as my main node in my mesh network.

No complaints at all so far, other than maybe I would have rather have researched prior to buying on a "need it now" replacement rush for the 6/7 year old, old router that was giving me shit.

After buying it, I found a review that had mentioned that the internals weren't as good as the RT-AX56U and for only $30 more, I probably would have bought that.

But after a couple of months, no complaints yet and haven't felt a NEED to get a new one. Just waiting for tri bands to drop a little.

About 20 devices connected to the network including a hard wired NAS with no issues. Hard to say don't buy it, but for $30 more, you can get a better router.

How easy is it to connect this to the ethernet port in my garage to get wifi in the backyard?

Should be pretty straightforward to plug it in and configure it to act as an access point to work with another (main) router in your house.

Was curious about the same since I have an old Asus as my current router and wanted to extend the range as repeater. Found instructions://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1036082/ [asus.com]
Looks easy.
