My 3-year-old Dell XPS laptop needs a new hard drive. How do I know if this is compatible?

Should I grab this or another m.2 with a housing, or option 3 purchase another 1TB m.2 and transfer all my data from my 500gb m.2 already in stalled.
For the record I currently have 1.5TB m.2 installed. Looking to add another drive even 2…

I remember playing Skyrim after first release and it was bewteen 6-8 GB. I played on a AMD 3850 with Core2Duo and had no problems. Now games are 10x bigger and hardware is way better and yet the new games often run more like crap (Cyberpunk, Kingdom Come, Red Dead 2 etc). Truth be told, I think the games were made huge to discourage lifting the games off torrents etc

If your existing drive is a spinning drive, this SSD will be compatible. If it's a smaller SATA SSD, this will work as well. However, if it's an M2 SSD, this will not. If you are not sure what you have, there are a few ways to find out. One is to go to the Device Manager and look under disk drives - you might get some insight there.

Another is to go to dell.com/support and enter your service tag. You will see a lot of information about your system - click on the "view product specs" link. Look until you see your hard drive, and google the part number.

Thanks - it's a Seagate FireCuda 2.5" hybrid drive. Looks like this might be a good replacement.

What model is it? I'm pretty sure the XPS 13 line has always used m.2 drives, this is a 2.5". If you Google the exact model number you should be able to find what type of drive it uses.

It's an XPS 15 9570. It actually has a SATA hybrid drive installed (FireCuda which has been giving me problems) and a slot for a m.2 drive which is currently empty.

Yes, that will be a good upgrade. Those Seagate Hybrid drives are very unreliable, I would replace it ASAP.
