Choose the one without the streaming service; it will let you purchase. If it's all the same to you. You and I both must have used the streaming service deal in the past.
I have an Echo auto and it is not worth it. You have to connect it to your phone, which defeats the purpose of the device since everyone can already access Alexa in any phone. I got because I still wanted to try it out, but the connectivity to the phone is iffy. Works sometimes and other times it does not connect. I guess for the ultimate subscription this deal is worth it, but the Echo Auto is definitely a bad product.

If you already have Bluetooth in your car, you don't need this. Simply turn on BT on your phone, pair and connect to car. Launch Alexa app on phone. That's all you need. Alexa listens to your commands via your phone when you say 'Alexa...". This is only needed if you don't have BT connectivity in your vehicle, or an exceptionally noisy cabin environment, where the mics can more easily pick up your commands. Good deal if you need that function, or at least worth trying. Few folks rave about it however..most end up only frustrated.
If you don't have Bluetooth in your car, this is a usb powered Bluetooth adapter for $15. That is how I use it and for that purpose it's fine and this is a good price. Adapters without batteries that turn on and off based on usb power only are surprisingly expensive.
I agree if you already have Bluetooth this device is not useful in practice.
I picked up the Echo auto thinking it'd be really great... it was okay. After an initial test period, it just ended up being a really good blutooth receiver. So it still served a good purpose, but not as amazing as I was hoping for.

I would disagree with this. Not all cars w/ BT can stream. Some, depending on car, and age of it, can only use BT for calls. Also, people expect too much from this device. Mine connects fine w/ phone and satisfied w/ what i use it for.

This is fair, but for me it serves a purpose. I have a 2013 bmw that does not allow for bluetooth audio (only for calls) but it does have an aux input. I connect the echo to the aux and it allows me to play music from my phone through the car without having to touch my phone. So for the price, it serves my purpose.
I like the echo auto my car only has aux input and had a 8 year old blue tooth connector so this was definitely an upgrade. Using Amazon music has been easier and call quality is excellent also use the announcement and drop in alot with our echos at home so that's made it easier too compared to just the app thru my phone
Save your money. I was the early adopter and if i'm not wrong then I spent around 30 or 40 bucks at that time. This thing is totally useless. You need to connect it to your phone for it to work and then hangs on your air vents through an ugly stand. Seriously, with iPhone and even Android being smart enough to talk to you directly these days, there is nothing which this stupid device does that you can't have 'ok google' or 'Hey Siri' do it for you. Save your money and burn in Hell Alexa Auto...

I agree. Crappy system in my wife's 2019 dodge will sometimes occasionally acknowledge that the Bluetooth connection might be something more than a way to upload her contacts. It's a stupid mess.

Can you use a Car's wifi hotpot instead of a bluetoothing to a phone?
not that I'm aware of.
I like mine. It is a little funny if your phone's cellular data connection is sucking, but often a power cycle can fix that. Being able to drop in on children's echos hands-free is nice, as well as making house announcements.
I've not used Google Assistant much but in this case, Alexa trounces Siri in recognition and integration with my streaming service (prime). Not to mention that on top of Siri just randomly not hearing me, there can be 4+ iOS devices within mic shot of me and I don't want to tell the wrong device to play something.
Ok, really silly, specific use for this— I have a large vehicle and often the kids in the way back can't hear me. So I can just do "Alexa, Simon says 'text me your food order'" etc
I agree that this thing has no purpose for most people. I was invited to be an early tester as well, but at least at the time they were saying that it was totally incompatible with CarPlay. So it was a no from me.
