Seems like a good deal. I own two 20v max XR impacts. not sure if I need this 12v one...

Wrong. It's clearly not 20v but 12v

I have 20v and 12v. I use the 12v a lot but is not that much smaller and less weight is from battery. But if I need to drive a lumber lock or even just a 3" screw, use a 20v

Great deal just for the batteries. I use the 12v almost exclusively in a professional capacity on a daily basis. Way better than the 20v for everything except maybe driving lag bolts. BTW, this will drive lags just fine albeit more slowly than the 20v.

Just noticed the description lists a DCB112 charger but the photo shows a DCB107. Neither of them are the new "fast" charger but you wouldn't need that for the 12V batteries. Either should be fine. All DeWalt chargers will charge both 12V and 20V, just at different rates. In fact, some say that slower charging is better for long-term battery life but this has been improved with new smart battery features that control that better.

I have some of the DeWalt 12V but they are older. Also a 12V LED compact light which is handy. So I decided to go for this because it's a great deal and I already have some of the 12V stuff.

DeWalt never did much with the 12V line but I think they're bringing it back more. In contrast Milwaukee had the M12 series where they have literally 50+ different tools including specialty tools for plumbing, electrical, other job-specific functions. I use those also. But for just basic drill & impact driver tasks, the DeWalt 12V is a good series. Interested to see if they start adding more DeWalt 12V tools now that they are supporting it more, it seems.

NOTE it said "only 16 left" when I ordered. This is a 3rd-party seller through Amazon.
