A better offer on the new Citi Custom Cash card for anyone living near a Citi branch. Same as this frontpage deal but you get an additional $100 for only $250 more spend. (For some reason Slickdeals has disabled the Wiki function on that thread, so this info couldn't be added there.)

As per this Reddit thread [reddit.com], Citi branch locations can be found in:
  • NYC
  • Washington D.C.
  • Miami
  • Chicago
  • San Francisco
  • Sacramento
  • LA (including 1 in Long Beach)
  • San Diego
One comment there suggests that while a branch flyer indicates the offer ends 6/17, it may continue longer (they just need to print new flyers). If you want this deal I wouldn't wait to find out.

Interesting card.... so you can always get 5% on whatever category you want just by using this card to make those purchases only.... so no need to wait for a chase or discovery category and no need to select the category for your cards like BOA where you choose.

I wish I knew about the $300 promotion before signing up online and only getting the $200. Oh well. My card is already in the mail.

Annoying that I need to go in person and can't do it online. Are they doing this to get people into the branches to try and sell them more services?

It is still going into October actually (at least in SoCal branches), so no worry there. If you have never had a checking account at Citi you can also get a promo there (search Google, it is offers $300, $700, or $1500, and it can even be their most basic checking account to work, you have to temporarily move $15,000, $50,000 or $200,000 of money to checking account for those levels) and combine it with this credit card offer.

Got my card and now looking to buy stuff to get the $300 bonus (applied in branch so the deal is spend $1000 get $300 bonus). Does anyone know what the percentage back / spending category would be if I only want to make a single purchase of a $1,000 Costco Shop card (Costco online supports MasterCard purchases of their Shop card, for members only, then that can be used to buy anything at Costco, and members get the standard 2% back to apply to membership fees annually using the Shop card - if at checkout you present your membership card then pay with their Shop card only) with this Citi card, to gain the ultimate $300 bonus? I kinda just want to do one large purchase like that as I don't have anything else I really need to but at the moment to get the deal completed. I know I can buy the one Costco Shop card, but my real question is what percentage back on the Citi card will I receive or the purchase of that one item?

What spending category would that single purchase fall under and would it be 1%, or 3%, or 5% cash back to the Citi card?
