Typically the metallic smell is bacteria/ mold in the sponge because you don't rinse it out completely, ring it out completely of water and let it dry. Also they need to be boiled or microwaved in water from time to time to kill the mold that grows within them. Hence why professional kitchens don't use them and use rags because they change they more often (every day as opposed to every week or more that typically people keep sponges because they are expensive)
Dude. That's a WORSE bargain, and you're paying more for a generic brand.

This Dawn deal works out to .058 per ounce.

The walmart brand you linked to works out to .066 per ounce.

"Blue Dawn" is an excellent way to remove poison ivy and poison sumac oils from your body too. It's far cheaper than using specialty products such as TecNue.

No, it's not Dawn, but performs quite close to it from personal experience and is half the price of Dawn.

Yes, I don't keep my stuff gross, but it's only Dawn that causes this in my experience.

Store-branded stuff are usually the same product anyway

Worked in food and had training with proctor and gamble once.

They told us all the dawn lines are the same product with different concentrations. Even the $1 store brand is legit. It's just watered down

Dish washing soap is usually good for up to 12-18 months and automatic dishwashing detergent is only good for about three. Once it expires, all of the bacteria eliminating properties are diminished and there is no use for it anymore.

Liquid soap will last from a year to 18 months, but powdered dish detergent is only good for up to six months once it's opened. Unopened, it's quite shelf-stable.

Which seems fine to me. If you can't use 3 gallons within 2 years, oh well. I can certainly use it within that time frame. My dishwasher detergent is ecover - comes wrapped. So good.

Automatic dishwashing detergent is only good for about three months? I understand that the preservatives might be gone but does it really matter if I always run my dishwasher in the sanitize mode? I believe any remaining bacteria should be dead after the high heat cycle.

My last Palmolive order from 5 years ago is finally out. I think this is good for another 5 years.
