FYI it's cheaper to buy from WalMart if you are charged sales tax because the tax is applied to the full price on Amazon before the coupon amount is deducted. If you add a protection plan the whole gross amount is taxed on Amazon as well, while there is no additional tax with WalMart for adding a protection plan -- which WalMart has for $34 for 3 years instead of $49.99 with Amazon.

My 10 year old roomba picks up more pet hair than my 2 year old Ecovacs 900 series. That being said, my roomba ping pongs around the house mindlessly and always gets stuck somewhere not being able to complete the cycle and almost never finding its way back to the charging station.

I'm looking for another robotic vacuum mostly because the dust bin in the Ecovacs Deebot is way too small. Do the auto-emptying ones do well with pet hair? Which models have larger dust bins? Are the dual vac/mop ones any good? Thanks in advance to anyone able to help Smilie

I believe the s4 max and s45 max are the same. They have some absurd naming scheme

I personally would roll the dice and get renewed, pending return policy (at least give you an option to send it back on arrival). We have an S4 (not MAX) and bought it open box (similar warranty period) and have been very happy with it; one of the few Slickdeals my wife actually likes Smilie. I expect the renewed and open box are very similar. I was worried it might be gross, but it looked like new. The unit we got had been run for a total of 3 minutes and still had the previous user's map (just a single part of a room), which it was a bit disappointing that they didn't reset it. It's been going strong for a while, the Facebook community is helpful, and I was able to order replacement filters and brushes off of AliExpress without issue.

All that said above, I'm really hoping that the S7 with auto-empting tower isn't so crazy expensive. For my biggest issues with our regular S4 is that we need to empty it several times during cleanup (dog hair mostly) and that it only fills up the middle 1/2 of the bin; hoping the tower would help with that.

I do like the mopping feature, it doesn't save you from mopping, but it does do a good enough job that you don't have to mop as often.

I ended up getting a renewal from Walmart w/ 3-year protection plan for less than the new one. Look at my previous post showing WalMart is slightly cheaper -- especially if you're buying a protection plan. I previously bought an E4 refurb and it was in near perfect condition, so I expect this to be the same. All of the listings on Walmart and Amazon are fulfilled by the manufacturer, so there isn't any gamble by going through one site over another.
