Buy your $100 Target GC using your Citi DC 2% card nets you another $1.9 off.

User your Target GC rather than your Redcard at Target and earn another 1% ($1) in Target Circle rewards.

That's 7.9% off instead of 5%. Not a lot, but it's not zero sum.

no it doesn't. i'll tell you why.....

paying with target gift cards will give you that 1% target circle earnings. paying with redcard will not give you any target circle earnings.

soooo......

buy your gift cards for 5% off and then use them for future purchases to get another 1% back in target circle earnings.

5% red card discount only applies to specialty gift cards like home depot, restaurants, entertainment, etc..

Short of getting an extra 2-5% on credit card points/cash back, is this any different than just using a RedCard? I don't think you can double dip when making a purchase at Target by paying for a given order 90% with a gift card and 10% with a RedCard in hopes of getting an additional 5% savings...

Extra % is extra %. Every bit will get you something extra, especially on travel credit cards.

Got CSP card and need to spend $4000 next 3 months. I guess this make sense for me?
If I use CSP at Target, it will count tawards CSP quota but not applicable for 5% off.
If i use red card, I get 5% off but the spending doesn't count towards $4000 quota.
Buying this GC, I get 5% off and the amount will go towards CSP quota.
Right?

I believe it is an Yes. Any spending you do using the credit card is marked against the $4000 that you need to spend for the bonus. I have spent on Gift cards before to fill up my quota on multiple cards. And yes, you will be getting that 5% off if you have target circle account and it is limited to one purchase only. So make sure you purchase the necessary amount of gift card in that one purchase.

Just a heads-up-- there is an issue with the promo applying in-store correctly once the offer is activated. Customer service refunded me the 5% in the form of store credit.
