If I have 49gb of photos stored on the 50gb plan, then downgrade to 5gb plan, what happens to my extra 44gb of photos? Will they be lost forever or remain inactive in iCloud until I upgrade again to 50gb?

In whatsoever case i would definitely recommend getting itunes backup if u can before trying this option as your pics are more valuable than the $3.96 benefit
If you dont have those photos still on your phone then i wouldnt mess with it as you might loose em all. If u have them on your phone then its okay as u can back it up anyways after upgrading back to 50GB.

I had AppleTV+ through July 1, I canceled that and it extended until October 17. If my start date was today then that's 4 months.

I had Apple Arcade through July 30, I canceled that and it extended until Dec 30. So if my start date was from July 1, that's 6 months.
