I think it really depends on your use case.

Do you really need the power of the M1 iPad Pro with its XDR display? Are you trying to use it as a laptop replacement or for media consumption?

In my opinion, unless you're using it for your profession, the Air should check the boxes for most.
Are you trying to get both an iPad and then a MBP?
06-17-2021 at 05:50 PM
That's my intention. I'd be using it for Universal Control and Side Car. As far as Pro features are concerned, I'm attracted to the 120hz for sketching, including Lidar for AR features. Procreate 5.2 is going to add painting for CAD files, which their page said would directly take advantage of the M1. I also would like to own this tablet for as long as possible, so M1 might help with extended support. My major is Radio Television and Film, and I'm looking to do the heavy lifting for editing on the M1X Macbook Pro. The Pro might be overkill for me, but center stage and AR seem very practical fot my production design work.

I was waiting for the MBP too but just bought the Air instead. Who knows how much it'll cost (some rumors say the MBP 13 will remain on th e lower end) and who knows when they will have sufficient volume since TSMC was on low production for the last few months due to the drought (new iphone gets priority on chip production). I would expect the new MBP in August at the earliest and maybe even November if chip shortagfes are as serious as they are for everyone else.

My machine is worth thousands in productivity to me every month so it's worth it in my case to buy a MBA now and sell it at a small loss to get the new MBP whenever it comes out comes out. Your case may be different.

my receipt shows the same... i did installment loan and have installments for both airpods and the ipad, it took the price of the airpods off the ipad... so ill bet if you return to apple they'd see it was part of a promotion but walmart/target/best buy might return without receipt for store credit? waiting for someone to chime in also.... would prefer not to try to sell on craigslist and get scammed/killed as i already have 2 pair of airpods....

I just ordered iPad Air 4.
Reason to choose this over 8th gen ipad:
Comes in Blue Color
A14 bionic processor vs A13
Fingerprint scanner is cooler
64gb storage vs 32gb (didn't went for 256 gb. Not needed for me)
10.9 inch display vs 10.2
4gb ram vs 3gb
12 mp cam vs 8mp
Takes 4k video
Has Usb-C port
Resolution- 2360X1640 vs 2160 X 1620
And on top of that free AirPod. I won't use that since I got that and pro already but can gift it to someone.

I think more memory any day. Main advantage of the pro is cooling fan and battery if you don't care about the Touch Bar
Always go with Pro.

I am able to place an order with my daily use account and Apple does not ask me to verify Edu info. Is this as expected?

Thanks, looks like Apple is just making this promotion for everyone? Lucky you, I have to wait 1 month for my iPad pro to arrive.

I wanted to get the iPad Pro 12.9 inch(The one announced in May) the only thing stopping me from doing it is this whole "Blooming" thing I keep on hearing about..otherwise this is a great deal..Was going to trade in my 2018 ipad pro to get the new one..as far as the airpods go, aren't they supposedly going to come out with a newer one soon? As far as the 14 inch macbook pro I guess the rumor is that will be coming out in October/November after this promo ends

Nah you shouldn't worry about the blooming. The only reason why you see blooming is because when people take pictures of the screen, the ipad will show blooming but when you see it in person, there's barely any blooming. Don't believe a lot of the trolls about it and just check professional reviewers on youtube.

Yeah I keep on seeing people post(Mostly on macrumors, etc) about the blooming and how its SO horrible..I have not seen the iPad Pro in person, I havent been to the apple store since before the pandemic so I have no idea what it even looks like. They say it is worse at night when you are watching a movie or something..I guess I would have to see it in person but at the apple store obviously its not dark so not sure how I would be able to tell. I know that supposedly apple will go OLED in the future maybe next yr but doesnt OLED have the same issue so what would be the difference..so yeah the only thing stopping me from getting an ipad which Ive wanted for months is the blooming thing

FYI... if someone is interested in buying this from Bestbuy, I called them and they matched this deal. $899.99 for Macbook Air and free Airpods. They have $130 Apple competitor discount coupon in their system for this price match. I went with Bestbuy because of AMEX offer of spend $50 get $50 back from earlier this year.

For those buying iPad - the buying page also advertises this offer:

For a limited time, buy an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular directly from Apple and get up to $200 back when you activate it with AT&T, T-Mobile/Sprint, or Verizon.**

You can sign up for T mobile (best offer of the carriers - $200 credit card style gift card) and once you get it, cancel the line. Should probably be net positive ~$100 including activation and a month or two of the data service plan.

$10 activation + $30/ mo fee for 10gb plan per the details. Card is issued in 6-8 weeks and plan needs to be active at time of issuance.

Offer ends 6/27

I want to trade in my old iPad along with this deal, I am able to do it online, however, I wanted to know if it would be possible in-store as well? Do they accept trade-ins in store, I am not sure if my iPad qualifies, it in good condition and all, however, there are here and there bumps, but it's been in a case 100% of the time, everything else works. But you never know with these trade-ins, if they can't return it and I can't get the value I am expecting, I rather just keep it and give it to my of my kids as an upgrade instead of Apple disallowing the trade-in and just tossing the iPad away.
