Apple doesn't ask for any proof. Literally ANYONE can get the discount. The fine print, if I recall, even says parents can buy for themselves.

But if you have a credit card that gives extra 1-2 years of warranty, why pay with gift cards
Credit card gives 1 year additional warranty. Not all of them need the warranty and are ok to get a discount. My calculations below for a 128GB iPad pro 12.9

Using gift cards I pay $855 vs $999 if paid by credit card. I will save around $145 and if needed I can buy Applecare+ for 2nd year warranty for $120.

If you take into account 3% cashback on credit card, then the difference is only $115. Now if I choose to take Applecare+, I pay only $5 extra compared to 2nd year warranty from credit card which I think is a better option.

Yup, they told me there's no benefit of returning the AirPods Pro so i just opted to return and just keep the free AirPods.
During tax free weekend, I bought my MacBook Pro and added the AirPods Pros online for $1,289+ $12.32(tax on AirPods pros). I got separate receipts and got charged $1,040 for the MacBook Pro and $262.32 for the AirPods Pro. I went to the apple store to see if I would get $90+tax or the full $262.32 if I returned the AirPods Pro. I got $262.32 refunded so I just returned it. You should try returning it again.

So I just returned the AirPods for $165 and kept the computer for $740 plus no tax, in addition I traded in my old MacBook for $200 so all in all I upgraded my 2013 MacBook Air to a brand new one with twice the ram and storage for $540 out the door-nice!

Curious about returning the AirPods as well. Apple said I could do it, but it would remove the AirPod discount off the Mac as well. Anyone been able to return the AirPods and still keep the $160 off the Mac? If so, did you do this in the store or by returning through the mail? Thanks!

Anyone have thoughts on buying now with the Apple event scheduled for 9/13? Will they shut down this deal before the event? I would be interested in a 14" Pro but if it's much more ($500+) than the Air, this would work. I might just but the Air Friday the 10th and cancel/return it if a new, reasonably price Pro gets released.

Pro wont get released till October. The event on the 13th is for the new iphones. The student deal usually ends near the end of September.

Anyone try picking up the headphones and getting the laptop delivered? This way, you get a separate receipt for the headphones, and maybe it'll be easier to get a refund on the headphones? Or maybe it doesn't work that way on the receipt?
