Can I use this to seal up the hole that Verizon / Cox technician left on my brick wall? No longer have Cox so there is a hole in the wall. This probably won't match Red bricks but I just want to seal it up so no bugs get in.

Expanding foam is your best bet. After the foam is done expanding/drying, shave down the foam that cleared the sides of the brick w/ a putty knife, then paint it / spackle and paint it.

Edit.... I just read where this is on the bottom of the porch above you.... that needs to defy gravity. Plastering with a cementitious overlay would probably work, but I would start thinking about something decorative.... like an embossed plastic or aluminum where the moisture does not bother it much.... more of a soffit material. Depending on what you use, you may have to glue up some felt tar paper to stop any chemical reaction, but an epoxy paint as a sealer would probably work just as well.

If you have a piece of the brick, my Grandfather used a funnel to catch the powder from scraping various colors of brick and stored in jars for future repairs by mixing with mortar. I forgot what he used to scrape, so I just beat it into a powder with a hammer and add to mortar, epoxy if a small hole, etc., until the color matches and fill the hole. At the right time, use a dry sponge to dab and pull out to try and match the texture.

You hate to buy a whole bag of mortar for a hole or two, but take along a zip lock bag and you can often find a broken bag at the box store for cheap, or they will give you a hand full. Or, catch someone doing brick/block work and ask them for a hand full. You could use Portland, but it is not water proof like mortar is.

thanks op, was just thinking of buying some recently. I have a partial cinder block wall attached to the house that is separating. Used something similar in the past for the same issue but that was years ago.
