I bought last years deal that came with the Moto e5. I've found it quite good. The only weakness has been the fingerprint sensor as it generally doesn't work for me. A Moto g6 I also use has a solid fingerprint sensor on the front of the phone that you drag your finger across, while these e's have a disc on the back you place your finger on, so you might want to look into that if it's important to you.

I really liked the case it came with and that appears to be the same with this deal.

Last year there was a lot of chatter about the rewards program and I received a code that gave me 5000 points. I just checked and it appears to still be active. Refer to the tracfone website for all the details. If you want a code pm me your email address and I'll submit it to tracphone who will then send you a code for your bonus points. This will help me as well with 5000 points too.
I bought the E5 last year, too. Haven't had any issues with the fingerprint sensor. But I don't use it daily either.

I bought an E5 too last year from those HSN deals and was looking at new phones. Wasn't sure if getting the G Power was better than the Moto E or G7 Optimo Maxx. Those older Motorola phones like the E5 still use gorilla glass while newer phones use NEG glass which many say is inferior. You won't get any further security updates with something like the G7 Optimo Maxx but is that a real issue?

I have the G7 Optimo Max, it's glitchy. G Power has android 11, bigger & better screen, 2 speakers, more ram, more storage.

Of course the G Power is the better phone with it's Full HD screen but feel like I don't need that big of a phone. I guess I'm nitpicking too much but your hear people talk about how they dropped their phone and screen cracked. With the E5 it seems to hold up pretty well even if you accidentally drop it.

What's folks experiene with their rewards program (Tracfone)? Unless I'm missing something, you could do 3 of these phones for about $150 total, use a referral when signing up + they give you 7000 points for each line you add, which gives you enough points for a $300 phone credit code. Seems like a pretty good deal.

I highly recommend their rewards program - enrollment with the right referral code can add 8GB data or build up to year(s) extra free service -- pm me if you want a code

The G Power is an impressive phone but it is big/huge and heavier compared to the rest of my collection. No surprise, but actually holding and using it reinforces the impression. The E5 is more in line with my other phones. No regrets on purchasing either but I won't be carrying the G Power in my pocket for awhile yet.
If you're concerned about the screen cracking, using a screen protector might help. I usually add a matte screen protector anyway but there are glass ones available, too.

Debating wether to stack the 1-yr plan on an existing account or create a new account with self referral from another account of mine, which earns 2x6000 pts between those 2 accounts.

I'm about to pull the trigger on this deal but does anyone know if the phone can do hot spot or USB tethering (supported or otherwise)? I've got a small IoT project that uses very little data and this would be great.

Tracfone messed me over by not returning ANY of my saved mins/Data/SMS when I tried to move them to my old Tracfone. The online site simply zeroed out everything completely.

Days of wasted time thinking escalation and many proofs of purchase, I thought they would at least return everything onto my last phone. They actually lied to me on several occasions about management, etc..., verified.

They keep close records of what you have and this I learned over tears with them. Then the acted like there was no way they could verify what just got zeroed out.

And no I didn't lose it with them, nor use profanity; but that wasn't easy.

I used to post Tracfone deals. They can not be trusted.

I thought they just had bad service; for the lowest price. I thought one could just use the online site. I was wrong. Sooner or later they will get ya.

Tracfone has no integrity. Look up the law suites against them. My guess is they were pissed about being held accountable for there miss deeds. But I never got anything not was party to any of those previous lawsuits. I think they forgot you can't just mess people over.

Tracfone: They are just not OK. I was "you". Now don't shot the messenger.

Best advise is use up all your TF "saved" stuff and move on.

Get your own unlocked (even your old Tracfone for no extra) phone upgrade and use Red Pocket, for example. But test your target carrier for talking *and* data downloads, not just a speed tests, first. Such as with friends and family at the locations (cell sites) you require.

Note: Consider tethering types, which RP allows; but depends on phone and some custom settings. And non-Google voice mail, any transcribing fees if required, WiFi calling etc...
