These are shit tents. Went through two of them. Both developed horrible leaks within 3 trips.

A typical camping trip with this: Get to camp, empty out entire bed of truck, set up tent, decide you want to drive to town, store, beach, trailhead, etc., take down entire tent, try to find somewhere protected from the elements to keep the things that are now no longer in your tent, go, return, re-set up tent, put everything back in your tent, try to sleep but can't because your tent leaks, get up, take tent down, remove all wet things from tent, pack all items back into bed of tent, go home. Yay, what a great trip.

Seriously folks, buy a reputable budget-ish brand regular type of tent (Kelty, Alps, even Coleman) and forget this gimmicky nonsense.

Seems like a good price. We bought the longer version for a 6 ft. 4 in. bed. Used it last weekend and it worked really well. Even took a full size mattress and it fit through the opening. Just a heads up to those with 5 ft. 7 in. bed, a mattress won't fit in the bed without the tailgate down.

Anyway, it's a solid tent and easy to assemble. The only negative is if you want to drive your truck, you have to disassemble the tent. With a regular tent, you could leave it set up at your campsite while you drive to other locations to explore.

I too own one and have used it only once. It's a pain to setup compared to my ground tents. It also develops leaks so you'll have to seam seal. Parts break due to lower quality and replacements are expensive.

The only pro is that you don't sleep on the ground and elevated.

I like the idea of this, but I am concerned about scratching the sides of my bed. Are there any protectors on the straps?

Just bring sone microfiber clothes to put between. That's what I did when I used to care about my truck.

Always wanted one, but stars never aligned. Also you have to empty the bed of your truck. So that kinds kills it for me as well.

Worked well in the rain after waterproofing it. Very impractical to climb in and out of.

Do you think the one you bought will work on a 6'6" bed?

Eggactly. The other thing people forget is this doesn't help base camp operations unless you park and don't leave.

To set this up you will need to offload all the items in the bed.

Might as well just set it up on the floor…
