I just wrap a pillow with duct tape to my knee and save $13
You can apply that logic to anything. I just walk everywhere since it's free so I don't pay for a car. I just bake in the sun since no AC is free. I just scrounge in dumpsters and don't pay for food and save money.

I got two pairs a few months back and do not like them at all. The straps are too wide in the back and don't give you the proper mobility. If you nice budget friendly straps go to harbor freight

1 decent pillow can cost 6$. So 12 for 2. And it probably wouldn't be as effective as a dedicated knee pad. And you shouldn't want to use the same pillow you use for a dirty job to put your head on.

I own a pair and bought another. I have bad knees and this helps quite a bit. I use it a lot for yard work and they've gotten a fair amount of use. Kneeling in rocks, dirt, etc.
The straps are wide and despite that, they will slide and I have to adjust them occasionally. I would prefer a better design with straps that go on both sides of the knee but for this price, well worth it. So I bought another.
They're well padded but doesn't prevent your knees from shifting side to side. Ridgid has a knee stabilizing model but it's oos right now, I would have bought that if it was available.
