I bought this a few months ago, for $350, from Walmart. I just needed something that was cheap and could get a few things done and play some older games, while I work on building my desktop. This works surprisingly well. I use it for some music recording with a Focusrite Scarlet and Reaper DAW and some light gaming.
It plays most PS3-Xbox 360 era games on medium-high settings, as well as some less graphically intense newer games. For an example of what it will run, I'm currently playing Disco Elysium (Medium settings 40-ish fps), Fallout New Vegas (High with 50-60fps), Elder Scrolls Oblivion (High 60fps), Octopath Traveler (High 25-40fps), Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (High 60fps), and others along those lines. Also playing an Xbox One game called Eastshade, but I have to run that on low settings and I get probably 20fps.
Those are bad stats for that last game, but it's such a pretty game and relaxing, and it's kind of impressive that this super low spec laptop can even do that.
You're not getting anything crazy with this laptop, but it's more than I expected. Hopefully this helps you decide.

Bought it a month and a half ago for $379. Specs were good. Quality control was terrible. 1st had a dead pixel in the screen and second had a junk keyboard. Finally just got my money back. Pony up a couple more bucks for better build quality.

Working at Office Depot back in 2012, I hated setting up Gateway just because of how cheap and crummy they felt. I still have my HP DM4 i5 dual-core laptop I used to play Borderlands and it ran better than my Dell AMD A6 touch-screen I bought a few years later.

It's center around the main keyboard. Most 15.6" with numpad are setup this way.

There are also much much MUCH faster processors than this…
But not at $399.
