I have both oral B and Diamondclean while i do like the diamondclean toothbrush more. I won't deny the Smartguide really is helpful i love it. If there is something similar where I can buy one for my diamondclean it would be perfect having to use my phone and bringing it to the bathroom just isn't the same

The newer models from oral b (io) and Sonicare 9300 and up can connect to your phone with their own apps. In addition to guiding you through your brushing routines, they can also store all your brushing data and tell you which quadrant you didn't brush enough,if you applied too much pressure or if you are moving the toothbrush back and forth too much. All of this can be done in real time using multiple sensors. But you need to shell out at least 175 to 300 for the top of the line model from oral b and Sonicare. Of course if you are a SDer, you will find a way to get them for much cheaper.
Yea I know that but I mean bringing my phone and starting the app every morning and night is a tedious process. The smart guide was definitely a nice thing to have. And yes I recently got the 9900 prestige model from philips for $200 lol
You really don't need the smart guide because the oral b will do a very short pause to remind you to switch to a new quadrant. These newer models not only do that, but it can tell where exactly in your mouth you are brushing! But all I really need are the 2 minutes timer, 30 seconds reminder and pressure indicator. However, it's also nice to get a report at the end of each session to see which area of the mouth that I didn't spend enough time on for future reference. I love my Sonicare 9700! It's better for my gum but my oral b is a little better at cleaning the teeth. So I use both

I know I don't really *need* it, but it is hands down my favorite feature. 80% of my relatives, 3 generations, including my parents, are dentists. As a result, I've tried nearly every model of toothbrush since I was on the test team for the Sonicaire in the 90's. I really like the oral-b SmartGuide. I'm not interested in mounting my phone to the mirror (some brushes need your phone pointed at your mouth to tell quadrants) or even having it in the bathroom. Left on the counter, I end up drooling on stuff looking down at my phone. I'm not going to hold it bc my non toothbrush hand is occupied holding my cheek away from my teeth in some areas. I even liked the SmartGuide as an in your face clock when not brushing.
In any case, tips for keeping your toothbrush not gross:
1. Pull off the brush head after use, rinse it (the brush part and the hollow neck) and tap out both parts. I even store mine in a $1 suction cup tb holder. 2pk is $2 at Amazon or Walmart. Flippit Toothbrush Holder

2. Hold your brush handle (without brush part attached) upside down and run it at high speed until it ceases dripping. About 5-10 seconds. Dry with a towel.
Since implementing these 2 steps, my brushes are never funky or moldy, my handles look brand new and they are not rusted inside. I've taken multiple apart.
3. If that's too much hassle, and you store your brush on the charger (I do not), cut a small hole in the center of one of those flat cotton ball discs and keep in on your charger to collect the funk before it crusts onto your charger and the bottom of your tb handle.
