Used to be a huge harbor freight fan but haven't been in the store for a few months and don't see this being an invective to go in. They recently seemed to have significantly increased prices on most things and did away with coupons almost entirely at the same time. On top of that, their warrantees on most items are a joke, pushing you to buy extended warranties, increasing the item price even further.
Even with this coupon, slickdealers can often buy name brand higher quality tools with better warrantees when on sale on slickdeals for around the same price or even cheaper. These would be tools such as DeWalt that will likely last a lifetime in my hands. I'm a pretty active weekend warrior with car and around the house repairs and to date have never broken a name brand tool. I've had many a harbor freight tool fall apart on me or just perform very poorly, which is beyond frustrating while in the middle of a project.

I stopped going when they stopped letting me use the 20% off coupon and free item coupon in the same transaction

Is threadcrapping the same thing as having an opposing opinion on a store/brand/item? My perspective is that the poster was just laying out facts that this merchant has raised prices, pushed warranties, and stopped regularly having coupons. That seems legit.

This coupon has a ton of exclusions to it.

Sadly, the excluded brands are exactly the brands I would use this coupon for. Anything else is a "throw away" product, such as sandpaper or inferior quality tools.

I was looking at a Predator Inverter Generator but that item is excluded. Maybe in the future, if they give that discount.

Most of the better items need that membership they have now, this 20% excludes most of them. Just going to stick to buying discounted Home Depot or lowes giftcards when available.

The raised prices are a symptom of increased tariffs from China. I'm sure HF would love to increase their bottom line, too, but even without that we're never going to see the "good old days" of dirt cheap tools again.

My thinking is that there are specific tools that are known to be good, and this is an ideal time for them. Dual action polisher, for example.

EDIT scratch that, the DA polisher is excluded lol. This coupon is useless

Is that why my 69 cents scissors are now 99 cents? I was wondering where the ubiquitous 20% coupon was.. thought I was going crazy bc it was really easy to find before. Couldn't find it last week.

There are still good items. I bought wheel chock for $8 which is same as amazon and bug zapper for $4. And steel car ramp $50 when everywhere else is $100. But overall it means I would stick with HD instead by default. I did like HF but without them 20% and price increase.. idk how I feel now.
