Daiwa Legalis LT Freshwater Spinning Reel
$48.99
[academy.com]

It is not the newest 2021 model. These reels on sale were first introduced in 2018. They are EXCELLENT reels.

The title says Freshwater but it can be used for Saltwater fishing.

Very light - Weighs 7.2 ounces (25); 7.5 ounces (30); 8.4 ounces (40). But it has ton of drag. Again the numbering is confusing but they mean 2500, 3000, 4000 respectively.

Only 3000 and 4000 are available, no 2500.

Store pickup available depending on your location.

Shipping is FREE over $25 order.

From amazon review: Great mid-price reel and usually a good price on Amazon. Not overly built like my Diawa BG, but much lighter for all day fishing. I have been using them for bass tournaments, smooth drag and nice line lay with braid.

Thank you. Was wanting to try getting into fly fishing for the first time. Honestly, I've fished with a normal rod and reel a handful of times so was curious what makes a fly fishing reel strictly for that type of fishing. thanks again.
You can get something like this clear float [sportsmans.com] to fly fish with any rod and reel - I haven't used mine much so I haven't caught anything with a fly yet, but I've used this setup on a spincast reel, and you can throw it out quite a ways if you have it slightly weighted.

Wish I knew something about freshwater fishing. I grew up in Florida, which has some great freshwater fishing, but all I did as a kid was saltwater fishing. I wouldn't even know where to begin. I live in Maryland but I don't know where to get started. Are there bait and tackle stores near the lakes?
