Before anyone asks, no, you can not "hack" this deal by keeping one and returning the other.
For the Bosch tools, it's just free battery/charger no matter what tool you choose. Which isn't terrible, but it's also their "usual" promo with Bosch tools. Frankly, I have more batteries than I do tools, or I'd be all over this.
Solid "meh" deal, but great if you're looking to jump into the Bosch cordless ecosystem.
Online it appears that you choose one of these tools and add it to your cart, you get the specific free tool that goes with the one you are buying. It is automatically added to your cart
Doesn't look like there's a list to choose from to choose said free item.

It is different for each item it seems. For example the first battery on the list has more than 10 items to choose from
Disappointed that the Craftsman 20v doesn't have a string trimmer in the freebie list. Mad at myself for letting the Brushless one on clearance last year for $80 go. I didn't like the look of the guard or the feed advance so I canceled the order but I should have at least tried it (on the other hand it looks to be discontinued without a replacement so maybe there were serious issues with it). I've been picking up the clearance 20v brushless (if available) tools (drill, impact driver, heat gun so far) so it would have been in the same battery system. I'm tempted to get the 4ah battery and free tool but I don't need any of them.
Anyone know if the Craftsman 20v batteries either fit in other systems or have other batteries that fit them with easy modifications?

My dad has been wanting to get some cordless tools for small projects around his home. Would you recommend the Bosch ecosystem? I was going to go with Ridgid from Home Depot but now I see this deal.
I know he wants a reciprocating saw and the circular saw

thank you for any advice.
For diy, once a year usage try Home Depot ryobi, but ask him, most guys have a preference. Like the ladies LV vs Channel etc

The Kobalt XTR line is pretty solid. The only thing I don't have so far is the circular saw.
But a reciprocating is extra awesome to have and this XTR one is a beast. Gotta toss something large and metal that won't fit in your trash can? It'll make quick work of it provided you have the decent quality $8-15 blade.

Bosch is notorious for tough - but limited depth of products. They rule in Europe, and guys here who bleed blue are to the death. However - Milwaukee has MUCH more in the way of options. Ryobi (Home Depot) is a no -brainer - vast number of tools and priced much better than Milwaukee. I'm no dewalt fan, period. One last one to throw in the mix is the KOBALT line - I have the ridiculously expensive Bosch impact (1/2 lugs) and when on a deployment - I needed another and bought the Lowes / Kobalt - and although its not as tough (well made) - nor as strong - I can buy the Kobalt and a dozen new batteries for the price of the tool only for Bosch. The Lowes/Kobalt battery prices cannot be touched - and they have a REAL 7.25" circular...

All you need for $400. I don't know your budget but set this will do nicely and I wish I would have just bout it to begin with.
