I have a bunch throughout my house. Keep buying them on deals like this, although this is one of the best prices I have seen. I use them as speakers (set up in different groups) to listen to music. My kids play music on theirs constantly. We also use the broadcast function to notify each other of certain things - like when dinner is ready. I use them to control my lights, thermostat and garage door. We also set alarms, timers, and notifications on them as well as googling information. I have also used them to have a phone call. Come to think of it, I may have a problem🤪.

The one in my kitchen gets the most use. I play music while I cook, ask it to set timers for food in the oven, and help me with conversion for measurements.

Found this one Lowe's. Quick price check says it's $34.99 on other sites.

I have one in about every space in the house. So google knows all that we say and discuss, but really it's just to listen to music. So on the deck and garage are good spaces where they actually get used the most.

Ok that sounds like an awesome idea. I've just never used it, I'll look up how to add my Google account to it.

I have a bunch of echo dots that I got cheap, but if you're looking something up (as opposed to just controlling devices), the Google assistant gives better answers than Alexa.

I love going to sleep to "Play ocean sounds". My girlfriend is obsessed and uses it so much I bought her one for her place.

I see this is the 1st Gen (as are all of my other minis) - any reason why I should skip this and wait for deals on the 2nd Gen?

Does this model have an auxiliary output so I can plug in an amplifier with speakers for better sound?

So i consider myself an audiophile, but im also rational. I have a great music and movie sound system (no like seriously, is obnoxious).
I use the google home speakers for whole home music. I think people got a little out of control spending on whole home music systems (like sonos), which frankly suck when it comes to quality. For $20, these google minis pack a punch, can be paired as a stereo pair and work seamlessly. No theyre not as good as an audiophile speaker, or even sonos for that matter. BUT $12?? truthfully, these aound better than many wireless speakers ive purchased for $80-100.
So yeah theyre not perfect, but at least im not paying sonos $200 a speaker for mediocre garbage

preemptive edit: fyi to sonos fanboys: just cause you convinced yourself theyre good because you have to justify the amount you spent doesnt actually make them good speakers.
