I have had my Vitamix for 9 years, and have never had an issue with it. I do not have this model but if I had my choice I would ourchase the 5200 new or refurbished. It provides excellent basic options and a very usable container. Do some investigating on the shape of the container, and how it works. The shape and size does depends on what you want to use it for. For example, certain shapes work better for just general blending, making almond/peanut better, chopping, etc. I also purchased a smaller container for other things.

The A3300 is for 319.99, wonder if it's worth getting it over the 5200

I have this model with the standard size container...whatever that size is.
"self cleaning" is a bit of a stretch. Basically you drop some dish detergent and water in it and run.

I make homemade peanut butter with no added oil about once a month. Two jars of peanuts per batch. The thermal protection kicks in on the second batch and I have to wait for the blender to cool down to finish it. The blender has endured 5 or 6 years of this.

From what I'm reading the narrow container does a better job with smaller quantities. A lot of people with the low-profile 64 ounce containers buy a separate 48 ounce narrow container, which will be an added cost with the Explorian E320 and A3300. Although the Explorian and A3300 has a pulse mode which looks useful.

I might go with the 5200, which includes 7 year warranty.

How does this compare to the A3500? Should I keep waiting?

great products, started with an old 5200 which worked flawlessly, then got the ascent 3500 for $350. The 3500 is slightly quieter. Both great machines but the 3500 came with a 10 year warranty which is nice…

Great blender. This thing is like a tank. Handle everything i throw at it. Bought it over 10 years ago and still going strong. I have brand new A3500 still in the box waiting for 5200 to die but it doesnt. Highly recommended.

Never used a blender and trying to decide between the A3300 and the 5200. I will mostly be using it for smoothies. The A3300 has a 10 year warranty vs 7 years on the 5200, which is nice.

Any recommendations on which is the better option for mainly smoothies?

Their customer service is great. Bought a "refurbed" one recently. Couldn't justify using it as much as needed it. Returned it within two weeks hassle free.
