Could someone tell me why this monitor is so popular?
It seems to be a 2 year old model with very limited connection type (DP 1.2 and HDMI 1.4), further, it is 120Hz whereas now monitors are 144 or 165Hz at the same resolution. In the past, this was popular due to a sperate g-sync module but since Nvidia now allows other monitors to run somewhat limited VRR, that is no longer something major.
Of course, the build quality and the warranty is really good, but is that enough to justify the price?
crazy deal. my wallet is glad it's sold out right now
Deal still works for me if you go through the Dell home page and navigate to "deals", then "monitor deals.". Says it's still claimable to me as of right now, but YMMV.

I am still able to add to cart as of 12:30 PST. It shows 38% claimed going through "monitor deals".

Kind of odd the OP would question the deal itself.
But yeah, I got it for the quality of Dell/Alienware monitors.
I could've saved 300 getting one of those monoprice ones that had dp 1.4, etc, but nah.....I'll pay extra for this sort of quality.

There are also LG UW monitors which get rave reviews and have newer connections along with HDR. Although questionable warranty support and build quality.
I initially ordered this monitor, but canceled my order. I am happy with my Acer 27" XB271HU monitor right now, but probably looking to upgrade to something more drastic like a 48" OLED

Yes, but they will move it again and again.
