But is it possible to add another year to my account doing the same method? What happens if I purchase another year of Xbox Live Gold with my account already GPU for a year?
The $1 deal will not work for you if you have done it. Instead, when you click on the link to upgrade Gold to Gamepass it will say $14.99 a month to upgrade. This is normal. It will bill you $14.99 once and whatever gold time you have will be converted to GPU 1:1. Before you click confirm to upgrade it will even show you your next billing date if you upgrade.
It's basically the same process as the $1 upgrade but, you are paying $14.99 one time instead of the $1 upgrade charge. Make sure to turn off reoccurring billing after if you don't want it to auto renew when it expires.
This just worked for me and I wanted to comment on it since you are exactly right. My ult gamepass just ran out which also meant my xbox gold ran out two days ago. I just loaded up 3 years of xbox gold, then clicked on 1 month of gamepass from the xbox store on my console. It then told me I would have it up to 36 months which they gave me a date of 8/7/24. Thanks friend!
