Terrible book. And NOT for kids. My in-laws bought this for my child last month. The cover looks innocent enough. I should have read the amazon reviews. Check out the video review showing a screenshot of the story about a guy that kills women (shot one in the back), then keeps the bodies for months and eats them. Then dumps remains in lake. Most of the other short stories are like that. And even if that's your thing, the writing is pretty bad.
My library has it for free. Thanks!
That description actually made me more interested in this book, but I checked the preview on Amazon and this does look like a lazy quickie-type book. Most of the entries are maybe five paragraphs long and the topics aren't grouped in any logical way and seem chosen at random. They're so short, it's only surface level info about anything - I would bet money that this entire book is just Wikipedia articles rewritten in a more conversational style. It doesn't look like any real research went into this book.

Holy crap. Thanks for that. Saved me from buying it for my 9 and 13 year olds.

Oh, I mean my local library has the physical copy. 🙂

Amazon hasn't bought out the library systems yet?

Downloaded. Spent 20 min on this. Just terrible. Written like a middle school report, subject matter chosen to shock and mostly failing.... it does fairly consistently bore.Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

If all 11,000+ people who viewed this downloaded and took the same time as I did to rage quit, then we have wasted a combined 152 days of life on this terrible book.LMAO

I cannot reclaim this time, but I can spend this additional 5 min warning others.

Move on. Not even worth the second it takes to download.

As a long time reader of this author's many books, I found this book to be very interesting, because it does not give one-line definitions or meanings to questions, but whole stories and histories of that piece of trivia. You get a 'behind the scenes' look that you'd not otherwise get from a regular dictionary or trivia book. I found it interesting, captivating, and enjoyable to read.Recommended.
