Michael Crichton as a person was a crock pot, but his books are good popcorn reads. Sphere in particular has a special place in my heart, as well as Jurassic Park.

Is this a worthwhile read? While I have seen the movies I have never thought about picking up the book. For two bucks seems like a no brainer for a movie I really enjoyed.

I know it sounds cliche, but the books are better than the movie. No spoilers, but the first movie takes its own path after the power goes out. The endings are quite different.

The sequel (The Lost World) reads far better than the movie. 2/3rds of the book explains the behind-the-scenes of the original park.

If you haven't already, I recommend checking out The Martian or Project Hail Mary but Andy Weir. Those books scratch a similar well researched sci-if itch for me.
