I'm often intrigued by the cost of these OEM/name brand water filters. When you can get compatible cartridges with as good or better specs, for way cheaper than these, why do some people still pay the higher price? We're filtering water here folks.

Can you link to an example? I don't trust the claims/specs/quality of any of the 3rd party ones I've seen and don't want to drink water every day that's been filtered through something I don't trust.

What makes this website reputable? I haven't looked for water filters in a while but last time I did I found 50 websites all similar to this that sold cheap filters.
From what I understand it is more cost effective to do a hard line water filter install on the back of your fridge.
