Both, I personally enjoy using it in soups as well as marinades. There are different levels of heat that you can buy gochujang in as well. Seem people pickle vegetables in it as well with other ingredients. Not a huge fan of it by itself as a condiment.

I do use it for cucumbers but only a table spoon for a decent size batch. Using too much brings bold flavor to the food you cant taste nothing but gochujang. Koreans like to use more dry ingredients instead of slapping this on.
