Very low contrast ips panel. These are the kind of tvs that LG/Samsung make to make OLED folks believe that OLED is somehow fundamentally superior technology. Until this year, only LG did this mental experiment. Now that Samsung has perfected QLED with QN90A, they think they need to also have a scapegoat technology to show the superiority of their newest mini LED enhanced VA panels.

Btw this is also mini LED but you can only go so far with ips. And at least for Samsung with their superb viewing angle technology on their top end TVs I just don't understand why they need to use ips

If you are looking for a decent tv without paying QN90A premium (I am a huge fan of QN90A) check Hisense U8G. I don't have personal experience with that one but I am seeing great reviews universally.

RTINGS Review: 8.2/10
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...qn85a-qled
Although this TV uses an ADS/IPS panel with disappointing native contrast, RTINGS measured, with local dimming enabled, a contrast ratio over 9000:1 in various picture modes, and a contrast ratio over 20,000:1 in gaming mode.
