The "lifetime" membership is back on sale. $122.50 for 500 GB and $245 for 2 TB storage. Of course the company can shut down anytime but this deal has been popular for the last few years.

Better for storage above 2TB yes. But in regards to security, cost and ease of setup no. A 2 bay NAS is 300 and two 2TB ssd will run about $400]

Definitely not true about pCloud.

I purchased a lifetime 2TB account 6/15/2017 for $250, it paid for itself in 2.5 years, so after the 2.5 years it is 'free' for me.

I never have any problems with pCloud.
The other thing to take into account is that they're not likely to run out of new users any time soon. Probably most accounts go dormant after a couple of years too. I use my 500 fairly regularly though...

Does by chance anyone ever used OwnCloud and then switched to pCloud? Need any comment with practical experience (do they have similar app which automatically synchronizes folders?)

As long as you can live with the 250MB file size limitation.

any video clip is at risk of not being uploaded.
and its hard to tell what was missed in uploading due to Box's 250mb file size cap
so many things are too large

Yeah, free Box account is only good for photos and documents due to this limitation. I'm not complaining since I got free 50 GB. Smilie

You need the family plan to share logins and have user configurable quota for 5 users.that plan is $500 for life time.

If it goes to even 3 to 4 years it's paid itself off that's my hope 5+ year is free ride..
