Can anyone chime in on a good detergent for smelly gym towels & clothes (both cotton and synthetics). I saw some detergent advertising added enzymes for breaking down oils & killing off bacteria., The gf's Peloton-worn clothes are a bit of an issue of contention, and we use shared washers that always seem to have a funk.

For reference, we use Persil which handles food stains well, but most detergents seem to only cover up the smells--I remember Tide Sport had a good scent but didn't really clean up existing smells.
I use this as a washing machine cleaner. I put in a glug in the basin of my front loader and let it go through its self cleaning cycle. It's cheaper and smells better than some of the other cleaners I've used.

Good stuff. Use it on my work clothes. I'm in the oil and gas industry and seems to work nicely. Also great for your towels.

I bought dome the last time it was front page. I was a little hesitant because of the mixed reviews but I really like it. The smell is ok. It really does get the funk out of my clothes and towels. I would recommend smelling it the next time you're at the store to make sure it's a scent you can tolerate. Also, although many have reported itching it didn't make my eczema flare up, so that's a plus.

Smells HORRIBLE. Threw it out immediately. If you care about your skin or sense of smell you'll avoid at all costs.
Oh ok. Works great for our family. Seriously

I use it occasionally, on jackets. Nothing that gets a lot of skin contact. Never had an issue.

Nice to get stuff like that really disinfected and clean given you lean on things, put jackets down on stuff. Stuff in overhead on a plane etc.

I don't think it's necessary for regular laundry, just stuff that could use an extra boost.

Doesn't the dryer get hot enough to kill all germs/viruses?

I think we cant just set it to hot option for all type of clothes. For some I have to do tumble dry option...maybe it's not hot enough to kill germs and viruses?!
This worked well for me last time I tried. In for one.

I've tried the "sport detergents" and they didn't get the funk out of the workout clothes. It was a highly rated one on Amazon (forget the name) and it's fairly expensive.

This Lysol has worked though -- you may need to do a pre-soak the first time to get rid of the initial funk. But if you add this to every wash, if it's anything like my workout clothes, they come out fine now...

Thanks! The pricey ---something--- Green one seems to have ranked top in the algorithm, and I'm always doubly wary of products that spend a ton on social media advertising. But $4 is something I can try once.

I use Pine-Sol. Works great, it's only like $10/gallon, and you can use it for all kinds of other things, too.
