If you're not yet a Game Pass Ultimate member, I was recently able to help a friend get 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate using ~$40 Brazilian 12 mo Xbox Live Gold prepaid cards. Bought 3 of them, redeemed all of them to his account while connected to Brazil via VPN. After all 36 months were redeemed, we then converted all 36 months to Game Pass Ultimate at 1:1 ratio for $1. He was also given a couple months extra since the Game Pass Ultimate promo was $1 for 3 months.

That put the total to around $123ish for like 36+2 months of Game Pass Ultimate.

If you're not yet a Game Pass Ultimate member, I was recently able to help a friend get 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate using ~$40 Brazilian 12 mo Xbox Live Gold prepaid cards. I did the same way...bought and tested with 1 code, it worked...GPU for 1yr....but when i apply the second code...it says - Redeeming your Prepaid Xbox Live Gold 12 Month code will automatically convert to 4 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and will be added to your current Xbox Game Pass Ultimate account. - how to proceed. thanks.

It seems if you add a lump sum to your wallet then you can avoid the fees. Several hurdles you have to jump over to do it, though.

I thought the cap was 36 months of Live/GPU.

You have to wait until your GPU expires.

If you mean Xbox Live Gold, yes, but you might be able to get a 3rd year of Xbox Live Gold for even a bit cheaper before you convert everything to GPU.
